Welcome to Volunteers Cleaning Communities / VCC-Volunteers cleaning litter
Let's make our community a cleaner place for us, our neighbors, our families and the future members of our community.
Let's make our community a cleaner place for us, our neighbors, our families and the future members of our community.
Councilman John Lee credits VCC with getting citizens out to help beautify their community and are good stewards of the earth.
We are a non-profit organization and rely on donations to
support our work.
Your contribution will enable us to support our volunteer activities, our reward program for youth and purchasing equipment that make our job easier and more productive.
We are very grateful for your generosity

We are a community-based nonprofit 501c3 organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, cleaner, environmental friendly,
litter-free place.
With the help of amazing community volunteers, we organize cleaning events to clean our local streets of litter and through the Adopt A Highway Program we clean a 3 1/2 mile section of the 118 Freeway from the on and off ramp of Tampa to the on and off ramp of Balboa both the north and south sides.
We clean illegal dumping site, abandoned homeless encampments, our adopted section of the LA River (between Owensmouth and Winnetka), Sepulveda Basin (Haskell Creek) and various train tracks.
We have the Adopt 1 Street program for those individuals who cannot join groups because of time restraints or physical issues.
We have school programs where we educate, lead clean ups or beautification events and give school volunteer credits.
We host an annual Environmental Awareness Day event that is similar to a street faire but revolves around environmental and volunteer opportunities for community members held at the Chatsworth Train Station.
We are always creating new events in order to get community members involved in their community cleaning or beautifying - "Litter Awareness Days", "Clean an Entire Street from the 118 to Ventura Blvd in 2 hours", "Ventura Blvd Earth Day Clean Up from Universal Studios to Valley Circle event"; "Litter Scavenger Hunt in Local Parks with Cinnabon our Environmental Donkey", etc.
Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits you. - either cleaning the streets or cleaning the highway or both.
We do cleaning events at least twice a week which gives the volunteers a choice - it is great exercise, a chance to meet great like-minded volunteers, have some fun and make a difference in your community! We're excited to have you join the team!
We are looking to develop a VCC Team Leader in every community who can then expand our efforts for getting our communities clean.
A Team Leader would be the person who leads the group on organized clean ups, distributes the equipment needed for the clean up, provides the bag count and pictures of the event, welcomes the new volunteers and makes them part of the group, selects the clean up areas, etc.
VCC provides the initial equipment - grabbers, VCC vests, gloves, VCC sign, bags, Sign up sheets, Sanitizer, VCC pamphlets, VCC business cards and social media support.
If you are interested in leading your community clean ups, please contact us and we can discuss the details.
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you.
If everyone in a community would just pick up one bag of litter a year, we would have a beautiful, clean, litter-free community to enjoy. We can't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters and interested community members like you.

As an Adopt-1-Street volunteer you are able to "adopt" an area that you are committed to keeping litter free for a period of one year.
Visit the website adopt1street.org to learn more.
The Adopt-a-Highway program, and the very similar Sponsor-a-Highway, are promotional campaigns undertaken by U.S. states, provinces and territories of Canada, and some national governments outside North America to encourage volunteers to keep a section of a highway free from litter.
The contract is for a 5-year period, with the expectation of working the highway at least twice a month to keep it clean of litter.
The only reward for this is "making a difference in the cleanliness of the highways" and a sign on your section of the highway so that drivers will know who is responsible for keeping that area clean.
Adopt A Highway Program provides safety training, all equipment, trash bags, support and oversee of accomplishments.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
